Qualification for Office (Cultus Lake Park Commissioner)

A person is qualified to be nominated, elected and to hold office as a member of local government at Cultus Lake Park if they meet the following criteria:

  • Canadian citizen

  • 18 years of age or older or will be on General Voting Day

  • Resident of British Columbia for at least 6 months immediately before the day nomination papers are filed

  • Not disqualified by the Local Government Act or any other enactment from voting in an election in British Columbia

  • A leaseholder of the Board or person who resides in Cultus Lake Park - CLPA 1932 s.5(b)

Voting

General voting day will be Saturday, October 20, 2018 between 8:00 am and 8:00 pm at the Cultus Lake Community School. Residents and non-resident property electors will register for voting at the time of vote.

Advance voting opportunities will be held on Wednesday, October 10, 2018 between 8:00 am and 8:00 pm at the Cultus Lake Community Hall. Residents and non-resident property electors who are unable to attend general voting day will register for voting at the time of vote.

Proof of Residency and Identity

At least two pieces of identification are required at the time of voting. At least one must have a signature, and in combination the identification must prove both residency and identity. Legible copies of identification must be submitted with the mail in ballots in order for the ballots to be counted. In addition to the required identification, a declaration must be signed at the time of voting. Examples of acceptable ID for Identity:

  • BC ID Card
  • Valid BC Drivers License
  • Social Insurance Card
  • Credit Card or Debit Card with Cardholder's name
  • Old Age Pension ID Card
  • Valid Passport / Citizenship Card
  • BC Care Card / BC Gold Care Card
  • Continued Assistance Form SDES8
  • Owner's Certificate of Insurance and Vehicle Registration

For Residency:

  • BC ID Card
  • Valid BC Drivers License
  • Current Utility Bill or similar
  • Current Credit Card Statement
  • Owner's Certificate of Insurance and Vehicle Registration

Eligible Resident electors:

1.      are Canadian citizens;
2.      are 18 years of age or more on general voting day;
3.      have lived in BC for at least 6 months before registering to vote (since April 19, 2018); and
4.      have lived
in Cultus Lake Park* for 30 days or more before registering to vote (since September 19, 2018).

*At a residential property with a 21 year lease registered with the Park Office and subject to base lease rents in accordance with Bylaw 1033.

Each eligible resident may cast one ballot after registering to vote.

Eligible Non-Resident Property electors:

1.      are not residents but are registered leaseholders on a residential lease** at Cultus Lake Park;
2.      are Canadian citizens;
3.      are 18 years of age or more on general voting day; and
4.      have lived in BC for at least 6 months before registering to vote (since April 19, 2018).

**A residential property with a 21 year lease registered with the Park Office and subject to base lease rents in accordance with Bylaw 1033. 

If two or more non-resident property owners own a single piece of property, the majority of owners must designate – in writing on the Non-Resident Property Elector Consent Form – one owner as the non-resident property elector for that property.

NOTE: The person registering to vote MUST BE ONE OF THE INDIVIDUALS GRANTING CONSENT. The person voting must be listed at the top of the form, and must also sign as an owner. 

The NRPE Consent Form must be presented at the time of registration to vote, or accompany a mail-in ballot, and will not be accepted prior to voting day. Use Culltus Lake Park street address as the Legal Property Description.

If you own residential property along with a corporation, then none of the owners of the property are eligible to vote.

A person may only register as an elector in relation to ONE parcel of real property in a jurisdiction.

Commercial leaseholders are not eligible to vote unless they meet resident or non-resident property elector criteria.
