Community Meeting

Cultus Lake Park is holding a community meeting to gather input, feedback and ideas from leaseholders regarding the implementation of allowing Short-term Rentals, Bed & Breakfasts, Secondary Suites and Home-based Businesses in the Park.

The community meeting is set to be held:

  • Date: February 3, 2020
  • Time: 6:30 p.m. – 8 p.m.
  • Location: Cultus Lake Community School (71 Sunnyside Blvd, Cultus Lake)

As many of you know, the Cultus Lake Park Board has made the decision to allow Short-term Rentals, Bed & Breakfasts, Secondary Suites and Home-based Businesses in the Park. To manage this, Park staff have been asked by the Board to develop a framework for permits/licencing, bylaws and enforcement and to put effective processes and resources in place. This is to ensure that these elements that are now being officially allowed in the Park are well-managed and do not impede on the enjoyment of Cultus Lake Park for others.

Community Meeting Format

The community meeting format will be a combination of an overview – presented by Park Board Chair Joe Lamb – and the opportunity for residential leaseholders to speak with Park staff and Commissioners. Residential leaseholders are encouraged to come to the meeting with ideas, feedback and questions on each of the elements – Short-term Rentals, Bed & Breakfasts, Secondary Suites and Home-based Businesses – and what they mean, overall, to the Park.

Many of these already exist in Cultus Lake Park without the necessary oversight, security, safety measures or permits/licencing. It is important that the proper management and processes are put in place so that the Park remains a great place to live, work and play.

In keeping with the Board’s commitment to communication and community building, this public meeting is an opportunity for residential leaseholders to provide input on how the Park can best implement and manage Short-term Rentals, Bed & Breakfasts, Secondary Suites and Home-based Businesses. Your participation – as a residential leaseholder – is crucial to this important process.

A synopsis of the community feedback and ideas will be provided after the meeting.
