Community Meeting Information & Discussion Points

  • If this is a meeting regarding implementation of Short Term Rentals, Bed and Breakfast, Secondary Suites and Home Based Businesses does that mean it is a done deal?

    • After considerable research, outreach for community feedback (which included an online survey), and much deliberation and discussion, the Board has made the decision to allow Short-term Rentals, Bed & Breakfasts, Secondary Suites and Home-based Businesses in Cultus Lake Park.

The community meeting provides the ability for residential leaseholders to offer feedback and ideas regarding the management of these elements. This includes what bylaws are required, security and bylaw compliance and enforcement, permits/licences, leasing, etc.

The input from community members will help to inform the Board and staff as they continue to develop effective processes and procedures.

    • Thank you for your comment. We understand that you have been in contact with staff regarding your questions.

The purpose of this blog is to provide information to the Cultus Lake Park community as well as to visitors to the Park. Unfortunately, the blog format does not lend itself to substantial discussions regarding Board decisions, policy or other elements regarding these topics.

At this point, staff continues to research, develop potential processes, and draft bylaws and other relevant components regarding the management of Short-term Rentals, Bed & Breakfasts, Secondary Suites and Home-based Businesses.

To date, nothing has been voted on by the Board and there will be opportunities for community feedback at future Board meetings. This will be when bylaws are put forward for first and second readings – similar to the budget process. Members of the community will have an opportunity to provide additional feedback at that time.

A report is being drafted that will include an overview of the Community Meeting held on February 3, the comments provided at the meeting and via email, as well as a list of the questions that have been submitted. Staff continues to work out concepts and to develop draft bylaws and policies for how this could work most effectively. This means that we don’t have all of the answers to questions yet. We are working on it and will provide this information to the community in due course.

We ask for your patience and support as we work through this process. We appreciate the community engagement. Your feedback, input and questions are important and provide crucial information and context regarding what needs to be done to properly manage Short-term Rentals, Bed & Breakfasts, Secondary Suites and Home-based Businesses in Cultus Lake Park.

  • Strictly re enforced by law with regards to smoking – noise level and number of parking per house.
Parking is a nightmare, by law are not followed by renters. They do not care about the full-time residents.
