Generous Food Donations Arrive at Cultus Lake
Vancity Floatplanes crew, Peter Grimm and Ryan volunteered their services and resources to aid in reuniting a young boy with his mother in Pitt Meadows today. The plane was determined to land in Cultus Lake at Main Beach to meet Bert and Betty, the grandparents of Ollie despite the current weather conditions.
Cultus Lake Park staff coordinated with the family in preparation to offload the float plane and ensure a safe arrival and departure of the crew. Public Works team acted quickly to give the family access to the dock and ensure it was secure prior to the plane’s arrival.
The pilot of the plane, Peter Grimm rallied his family and friends late yesterday after the trip was planned to purchase and donate much-needed supplies for the Chilliwack community. Upon arrival, Cultus Lake Park staff worked alongside the family to offload the incredibly generous amount of food, diapers, water, and other provisions into Bert and Betty’s truck.
Staff collaborated with the family to communicate with the Salvation Army in Chilliwack to prepare them for the reception of the supplies.
Thank you to Peter and Ryan of Vancity Floatplanes and Bert and Betty for your incredible gesture of generosity, community and selflessness. Cultus Lake Park staff feel honored to be a part of this remarkable story.
