NOTICE OF NOMINATION

Public Notice is given to the electors of Cultus Lake Park that nominations for the office of:

Cultus Lake Park Board Commissioner – 3 persons to be elected

will be received by the Chief Election Officer or a designated person at the Cultus Lake Park Office, 4165 Columbia Valley Highway, Cultus Lake, BC, as follows:

Nomination Period

From: 8:30 am Tuesday, August 30, 2022

To:      4:00 pm Friday, September 9, 2022

Excluding statutory holidays and weekends

 

Nomination documents are available at the Cultus Lake Park Office beginning Monday, July 25, 2022, during regular office hours between 8:30 am to 4:30 pm, Monday to Friday except statutory holidays and online at www.cultuslake.bc.ca/local-elections.

In accordance with the Local Elections Campaign Financing Act, for the 2022 General Local Election, the following expense limits for candidates during the campaign period apply:

Board Commissioner $5,398.92

Board Commissioner – Running for Office in Chilliwack $32,339.40

Expense limits are available on the Elections BC website.

In accordance with the Local Elections Campaign Financing Act, for the 2022 General Local Elections, the following third-party advertising limits apply.

The amount, in respect of an election under the Cultus Lake Park Act for a Commissioner, for   the applicable election area is the greater of the following:

  • $809.84 or
  • 5% of the expense limit for the candidate of local community commissioner.

QUALIFICATIONS FOR OFFICE

A person is qualified to be nominated, elected, and to hold office as a member of local government if they meet the following criteria:

  • Canadian citizen;
  • 18 years of age or older or will be on General Voting Day, October 15, 2022;
  • Resident of British Columbia for at least 6 months immediately before the day nomination papers are filed;
  • Not disqualified under the Local Government Act or any other enactment from voting in an election in British Columbia or from being nominated for, being elected to or holding the office, or be otherwise disqualified by law.

Elections BC Candidate Training

Elections BC is hosting a virtual training session for local elections candidates on Tuesday, June 14, 2022, from 6:30 pm to 8:00 pm. The training session will cover everything candidates need to know to ensure they comply with the campaign financing and advertising rules under the Local Elections Campaign Financing Act.

Anyone considering becoming a candidate in the 2022 General Local Elections for Cultus Lake Park Board Commissioners is encouraged to attend.

Cultus Lake Park Committee Applications

Cultus Lake Park is now accepting applications for volunteer members to apply for membership to Standing or Select 2022 committees noted below. Applications must be submitted to the park office by Monday, January 10, 2022. All applications will be presented to the Cultus Lake Park Board for review at the Regular Meeting on Wednesday, January 19, 2022.

Members of the Cultus Lake Park community are encouraged to apply to participate as a member of one of the Park’s committees. Each committee is chaired by a Board member and has terms of reference, which provides the purpose and mandate for the committee’s work.

Cultus Lake Park Board Meeting Rescheduled

The Cultus Lake Park Board will be rescheduling the Wednesday, November 17, 2021 Regular Board Meeting due to the recent weather conditions and damages within Cultus Lake Park.

Notice of Removal

July 19, 2019

Please be advised that in light of the March 15th registration deadline, Cultus Lake Park Staff will be removing unpaid/unregistered buoys from the foreshore area on or after Tuesday, July 23, 2019.

As per, Boating and Foreshore Bylaw No. 1143, 2019, Section 3.3 (l), any unregistered or non-conforming buoys and anchor systems will be removed, at the owners’ risk and expense. Removed buoys and anchor systems will be held for 30 days for pickup. Once a buoy has been removed by Park Staff, the buoy location will be forfeited.

Notice of Intent was posted on July 2, 2019 that all buoys must conform by August 1, 2019 as set out in Boating and Foreshore Bylaw No. 1143, 2019.

Buoys are also required to be marked by the buoy owner as follows:

  • Residents: RXXX, where “XXX” = lot number
  • Seasonal Campers: SYYY, where “YYY” = campsite number
  • Non-residents or non-Seasonal Campers: NZZZ, where “ZZZ” = a sequential number based on the order of registration (i.e. 001, 002, etc. assigned by the Park).

All buoys must conform by August 1, 2019 or they will be removed.
