Statement from Cultus Lake Park CAO re: COVID-19 Measures Being Put in Place, Cancellations and Closures

The Cultus Lake Park team and Board continue to closely monitor the rapidly developing situation regarding COVID-19. The health and safety of our team, our Board, community members and the public are a priority.

We are and will continue to follow the direction of the federal and provincial governments and health authorities. As such, the Chief Administrative Officer and Board Chair have made the following decisions that are effective immediately until April 17, 2020 (with the exception of the April 15 Board Meeting).

  • All events of more than 50 people are cancelled. This includes the community Easter Egg Hunt and the Sunnyside Campground Welcome Barbecue.
  • The March 18, 2020 Board meeting is cancelled. (The next Board meeting is set for April 15, 2020.)
  • All public facilities are closed – this includes public washrooms in Cultus Lake Park.
  • The Community Hall is closed.
  • Sunnyside campground is not affected by the closures at this time and is set to open on April 3, 2020. The store and public washrooms will not be open. If you are a Sunnyside camper and will be onsite, please use social distancing (keeping six feet or more between you and other people) and ensure that you respect other people’s requests not to engage socially.
  • While the Cultus Lake Park Office is open, we encourage anyone with questions or concerns to call 604-858-3334 or email [email protected] rather than come to the Office. You may also use the slot in the front door to deliver anything to us.
  • All Cultus Lake Park Committee meetings are cancelled. (ADDED TO BLOG POST ON MARCH 18.)

This is a fast-moving situation and we are getting updates from government and health authorities daily – sometimes several a day. At this time, the closures outlined here are in effect until April 17, 2020, but it is important to understand that this may change and the closure period may be extended.

We understand that these decisions may be disappointing for some; however, they were made for the overall health and safety of our community and the public. We will continue to monitor developments and keep you informed of any further changes to events or other elements of the work that we do.

This is an important time for all British Columbians and Canadians to come together in support of others on a local and global level. As a team and as individuals, we are committed to doing everything we can to flatten the curve and not allow this serious virus to spread to anyone in our community.

You Can Light Up a Tree for Christmas at Cultus Lake Park!

This blog post was developed in response to a request from the Cultus Lake Park Community Events and Engagement Committee – which is made up of community volunteers.

Who’s getting excited for the winter holiday season? You? Us? Everyone!

Cultus Lake Christmas is just around the corner – on November 29 and 30 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.

The Community Events and Engagement Committee’s (CEEC) event – Cultus Lake Christmas – is fun for the whole family. There are beautiful Christmas lights in the trees and reflecting off of the lake; a visit from the jolly fella himself – Santa Claus; an artisan gift market; a bonfire with marshmallows, hot chocolate and apple cider; and food for purchase. It’s all here – and Cultus Lake Christmas is the can’t miss celebration of the season.

The Christmas lights will remain on throughout December to help us all stay in the spirit of the season.

The CEEC has sponsorship packages available for those who would like to support this annual (and super fun) event!

Please see the image for information on how you can help.

See you at Cultus Lake Christmas.

Each week – from Monday to Thursday – 10 GREEN rocks marked with “www.cultuslake.bc.ca” are hidden around Cultus Lake Park. Find one of the rocks, take it to the Park Office during office hours Monday to Friday, from 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m., and you will get a small prize (that will make a young child very happy). You will also be entered to win the GRAND PRIZE for that month.

The GREEN rocks are hidden in the Cultus Lake Park Main Beach area on Monday mornings and they are picked up on Thursday evenings. This is a WEEKDAY-ONLY contest. You won’t be able to find a green rock on Fridays, Saturdays or Sundays – you have to come out during the week.

It’s only one entry per week per family – so if you find more than one GREEN rock, please leave it in place for someone else to find!

We will draw the grand prize for this month on August 27, 2019 – just prior to the Labour Day long weekend.

Good luck to everyone this month!
