There will be a public meeting at 7 pm at the Community Hall on Tues, Apr. 28, 2015.
Fuel Management Specialists from the Coastal Fire Center's Wildfire Management Branch, part of the Ministry of Forests, Lands and Natural Resource Operations, along with Cultus Lake Park staff will be on hand to discuss upcoming fuel management work taking place in an area encompassing a 7.4 hectare corridor adjacent to Sunnyside Boulevard and extending along Mountain View, beginning in early May and continuing as resources permit. There will be crews with chainsaws in the prescribed zone, removing ground cover and some small trees while adhering to WorkSafe BC standards.
This project is part of the Strategic Wildfire Prevention Initiative (SWPI). The project was approved and budgeted for by the Park Board in 2014, after the successful award of a Provincial grant to fund 75% of the $17,500 project as part of the Community Wildfire Prevention Program.
