Cultus Lake Park is looking for Volunteers to sit on a number of our unique Committees!

  • Future Plan Advisory (Select) Committee;
  • Community Events and Activities (Select) Committee;
  • Standing Committee on Bylaw and Policy Review;
  • Standing Committee on Operational and Financial Core Review; and
  • Standing Committee on Lease Review.

Passing of Long-Time Cultus Lake Park Resident

We are saddened to report that long time Lakeshore Drive resident Laura Watson passed away Wednesday, December 2nd from cancer.

Laura was a high school teacher in Chilliwack starting in 1975, and retiring in 2009. She was extremely active, whether it be coaching or participating in sports. 

There will be a Celebration of Life at the Chilliwack Curling Club (9291 Corbould Steet, Chilliwack) on Saturday, December 12th, 2015 from 1pm-5pm.

Mingle & Jingle with Friends & Neighbours: December 21

The Cultus Lake Community Christmas Party, brought to you by the Community Events and Activities Committee, takes place December 21, 2015 from 7:00pm to 12:00am at Legends Bistro at the Cultus Lake Golf Club.

Tickets are limited and can be purchased at the Golf Club at a cost of $10 each, which includes entry and a 10:00pm snack.

Legends Bistro will be open for dinner from 5:00pm to 7:00pm by reservation. To book your reservation, please call the Golf Club at 604-858-9902. Note - dinner is not included in the $10 admission price. 

Bring your favourite Christmas baking to share at 10:00pm!

There will also be a Silent Auction for some fabulous items!

For parents attending the event, a childrens movie night will be held in the banquet room above the driving range. Free babysitting will be provided along with free popcorn and juice boxes.

Cultus Lake Christmas: December 4, 5, 6

Come visit Santa at a free event for families to enjoy at Main Beach!

Sponsored by Investors Group, Panago and A&W, Cultus Lake Christmas includes live entertainment, marshmallow roasting at the beach side bonfire, hot chocolate, hot apple cider, German Christmas Market, and of course the beautiful Christmas lights throughout the trees along Main Beach and the waterfront. A childrens colouring contest and fundraising opportunities for local programs are also included at the event.

Cultus Lake Christmas takes place nightly, December 4, 5 and 6 from 5pm to 8pm at the Main Beach gazebo. Parking is free from 5pm to 8pm.

Sunday, December 6 Cultus Lake Christmas Entertainment

The third and final evening of Christmas productions at Main Beach (from 5pm to 8pm) has the community coming together with Christmas spirit!

Ken Dey and Denise Harrison will play lively Christmas tunes to get you in the spirit. They hale from Surrey, B.C. and play at many venues in the Fraser Valley.

James Newhouse, a local piano player who many of you may have enjoyed at the Saturday Market will play a variety of medleys that are sure to entertain you.

Hannah Litchfield, a local member of the community will be singing her Christmas favourite. It’s exciting having so much wonderful local talent in our community!

Katherine Kethler, another local,  has recently preformed Handel's Messiah at the Chilliwack Arts Centre and will perform her Classic Christmas songs.

To finish off the evening James Newhouse will lead us in song for those who love to sing!

Cultus Lake Old Fashioned Christmas Market: December 4 to 6, 2015

The Community Events and Activities Committee proudly announces the Cultus Lake Old Fashioned Christmas Market!  The Market will be held December 4 to 6, 2015 between 5 and 8pm at Main Beach. 

There will be bonfires with the Cultus Lake Fire Department, marshmellow roasting for the kids, hot chocolate, carolers, story telling, accordion music, food, crafts and so much more!  Make sure to mark your calendars for this exciting event.  For more details, check out our website:

Cultus Lake Christmas light up at Main Beach and the waterfront path will start on December 1st and run until early January.

CAUTION: Bears in Area

A grown black bear was spotted at the Park Office and surrounding areas at approximately 4:00 pm today. The bear crossed the highway heading North toward the forest. Staff notified Conservation Officers and the RCMP, as well as individuals working or staying in the area.

4:15 pm UPDATE: Two black bear cubs have been spotted along Sweltzer Creek.

Rock Wall Stabilization: West Side

Work will commence Monday, October 19, 2015 to stabilize the rock wall at 37 Lakeshore Drive. Stabilization mesh and rock bolts will be installed, and work is expected to take place over approximately two weeks. 

Traffic will be controlled while work is in progress, and only brief road closures of up to five minutes in length may be required for the delivery and pick-up of equipment.

Plan Cultus Update

The Cultus Lake Park Board and the Fraser Valley Regional District are working together to develop a plan for Cultus Lake Park.  A draft plan was presented to the community at two well-attended open houses held at Main Beach this past July and a survey was conducted to gauge public opinion.  Response to the survey was excellent.  A summary of the 579 survey responses received has been completed.

Announcement by Cultus Lake Park Board

The Cultus Lake Park Board provided the following announcement at the September 30, 2015 Board meeting: 

The Board announces that David Stelmack will no longer be a Cultus Lake Park employee as of October 1, 2015.  The Board would like to thank Mr. Stelmack for his 20 plus years of service with the Park and wish him success in his future endeavours.

In addition, Michael Phelan will also no longer be a Cultus Lake Park employee as of October 1, 2015.  The Board would like to thank him for his service and wish him every success in the future.

Tree Planting Event: Help Needed!

The Fraser Valley Watersheds Coalition and the Fraser Valley Invasive Plant Council will be planting trees and shrubs along Sweltzer Creek on Friday, September 25, and your help is needed!

Time: 10:00am

Meeting Place: Parking Lot A (Lakeshore Drive)

Things to Know: Wear boots, bring gloves, and dress for the weather. Shovels will be provided.

Harvest Dance Cancellation & Further News - CORRECTION

The Cultus Lake Events and Activities Committee has announced that the Harvest Dance scheduled for October 17, 2015 has been cancelled. 

However, stay tuned in the weeks to come for details on the Christmas Party at the Golf Course! The Committee is working on the details for the Christmas Tree Light Up on December 21, 2015. Exciting details to follow!

The Committee meets again at 6:30pm on October 22, 2015 at the Park Office Boardroom.

Fire Ban Remains in Effect for Cultus Lake Park

The campfire ban within the Coastal Fire Centre was lifted effective 12:00 noon today.

We have carefully considered this with respect to the safety and vitality of the Park and our campgrounds, and have committed to maintaining the campfire ban for Cultus Lake Park (including Sunnyside and Vedder River Campgrounds) for the duration of the weekend. We will reevaluate the ban on Monday.
