GRANT APPROVED FOR CANADA 150 EVENT
Cultus Lake Park has been approved for a grant of $2,500 from Trans Canada Trail to host an event in conjunction with a nationwide Canada 150 celebration on August 26. Along with thousands of Trans Canada Trail groups and municipalities across Canada, our event will be part of a giant simultaneous celebration captured on a multimedia platform and published online.
Light Up the Great Trail for Canada 150! Cultus Lake. Our event will be a festive gathering, before and after a Light Up the Great Trail walk. There will be food and entertainment, including a corn boil, Canada 150 cake, music and giveaways. The Light Up the Great Trail portion of the event will take place on the section of the trail that meanders along the Main Beach waterfront. At dusk attendees of all ages will walk or bike the trail carrying glowing lights. Boaters will be encouraged to participate too, creating a glowing flotilla along the waterfront route. We will have supplies of glow sticks to give away to ensure everyone has a light to shine. Photos and videos of this magical evening will provide a spectacular finale to the Celebrate the Great Trail events web site.
